What is Custom Pet Portraits?
Custom Pet Portraits (custompetportraits.art) is the fastest way to turn a photo of your dog, cat or any pet into a custom portrait: upload one picture, pick Royal, Renaissance, Oil, Watercolor or one of three more styles, and see a museum-style portrait that keeps your pet's real face in about 30 seconds. The first one is free, no sign-up.
What the site does
It turns an ordinary phone photo into a painted portrait in seven styles: Royal, Renaissance, Oil Painting, Watercolor, Line Art, Cartoon and Pop Art. Royal portraits come with eight costumes, from King and Queen to Admiral and Knight. There are also memorial portraits, Christmas portraits and funny themes such as astronaut, chef or wizard.
It handles one pet, up to four pets in one portrait, or a pet together with its owner. The finished file is 2048 × 2048 pixels. You can add a gold name plate and preview gold, black or white frames before you print, and neither costs extra.
Why we built a custom pet portraits tool
Ordering a pet portrait online usually works like this: you pick a design, pay $40 to $170, upload a photo and wait one to three weeks to see what a designer made. If it does not look like your dog, you are stuck asking for revisions. We wanted the opposite order. See the result first, in seconds, try three styles on the same photo, and only pay when you like one.
Today's image models can keep a specific animal recognizable while repainting everything around it, which makes a fast, honest tool possible: one photo in, a portrait out, at a price closer to a coffee than a framed canvas.
How we are different from portrait shops
Most custom pet portrait shops are print businesses. They sell a physical product and the digital file is a side item at $15 to $40. We are a tool. You see the result in about 30 seconds, before you pay anything, and the HD file costs from about $0.83 when you buy the largest pack.
We are also honest about what the portraits are: AI-generated digital art, not hand-painted. If you want a real brushstroke on a real canvas, commission an artist; our comparison of custom pet portrait sites lists the options side by side. We don't sell physical prints yet, but any print shop or canvas service can print the file.
What you can make
Some of the things people use it for:
- A royal or Renaissance portrait of a dog or cat to hang in the hallway, see renaissance pet portraits.
- A gentle keepsake for a pet who has passed away, made from an older photo, see pet memorial portraits.
- A portrait of two or more pets, or of you with your dog, see pet and owner portraits.
- A holiday card or gift, see Christmas pet portraits.
- Something just for fun: a corgi astronaut or a French bulldog chef, see funny pet portraits.
How the portraits are made
Every portrait comes from an image-editing AI model that receives your photo and a written brief for the style you chose. The brief always begins the same way: keep this exact pet, with its face shape, eye color, markings and fur. We tested the briefs on 17 portraits before launch and rewrote the line art brief after the first version drew broken outlines. The full details, including our test results and known limits, are on the methodology page.
Pricing in one paragraph
Your first portrait on each device is free to preview without an account, and free in HD once you sign up. After that a single pet portrait is 40 credits and several pets or a pet with its owner is 60. Credits come in one-time packs ($5.99 for 250 credits, $9.99 for 450 credits, $15.99 for 750 credits, $29.99 for 1450 credits), never expire and are refunded automatically if a portrait fails. See pricing for the details.
Who runs it
The site is run by Ye Fang Yao, an independent developer based in the United Kingdom, who builds small, focused AI tools. Questions, refunds and feedback go to [email protected], and a person reads every message.
Your photos and privacy
Uploaded photos are deleted automatically after 24 hours and are never used to train AI. Finished portraits stay in your account under My Portraits until you delete them. Guest previews are deleted after 24 hours. Every portrait carries an "AI-generated" note in its file metadata, and explicit content is blocked by an automatic check.
Frequently asked questions
Is it really free to try?
Yes. Your first portrait on each device is free. As a guest you see a watermarked preview; sign up free and the same portrait unlocks in HD.
Are the portraits painted by a person?
No. They are made by AI in the style of oil, watercolor or ink. That is why they take seconds and cost far less than a commissioned painting.
What animals does it work with?
Dogs and cats most often, but also rabbits, horses, birds, guinea pigs and other pets, as long as the photo shows the face clearly.
Can I use the portrait commercially?
Yes, you may use the portraits you create, including commercially, as long as you own the photo or have permission to use it. See the Terms of Service.
How do I contact you?
